As the debate about our immigration issues dominate so much discussion there is one aspect that should be added, especially by people of faith, especially people of the Catholic faith. That aspecet is the need to see a major increase in the spirit of Thanksgiving. People who leave their nation of origin, do not leave with a spirit of Thanksgivine, and neither do they take on a spirit of Thanksgiving to the United States.
People leave their the nation of origin as a spoiled young adult leaves his home, saying to his parents, "Thanks for nothing". And they arrive in the USA poisoned by a ideology that makes them mad at the United States, because they are not getting enough, fast enough. The best thing to do by the people who are organizing to help immigrants is to organize a national "Thanks to America" holiday or rally. This would do more to express the right attitude about a newly adopted country than almost anything else.
