To all who love St. James from the Liturgy Task Force:
As the proper worship of our Lord is the first and foremost purpose of the liturgy, our Task Force is intent on preserving those current practices which focus our liturgical worship toward our God. Mass offered Ad Orientem (Father facing East and the tabernacle) and the option to receive the Eucharist kneeling and on the tongue are two examples of practices which might heighten reverence.
It has come to our attention that offering a Tridentine – traditional Latin – Mass (TLM) at St. James might be appealing to some of our parishioners as well as a way to help young or old return to the gift of the Catholic faith here at St. James. The TLM was the exclusive Catholic Mass rite beginning in 1570 and for nearly 400 years, but since the introduction of the Novus Ordo in 1969, it is quite possible than many at St. James have never experienced a TLM.
We would like you to join us in considering the advantages/disadvantages of this rite to the community as a whole. Will you help us by filling out this survey so that we can understand your point of view? Thanks so much.
