Roman Catholic Church!
St James welcomes Daniel Vinzant for a Lenten Mission, Conversions Change Hearts ~ Converts Change History. Come hear about his conversion from Baptist minister to Catholic and his fervent pro-life actions – including working with Norma McCorvey (Roe of “Roe v Wade”) to eventual conversion to Christianity.
As we enter into passiontide, take a moment to prepare yourself for the celebration of the most important events of the liturgical year.
Originally from Waco, Texas, Daniel spent many years on the staff of Grace Gospel Church Waco and fourteen years as Senior Pastor of Trinity Church Waco. Daniel always had a passion for promoting life, and he led many initiatives bringing believers together as Stand Just in Waco. He became affectionately known as Daniel Waco as he led the battle against the local Planned Parenthood and eventually against Planned Parenthood International when that Board’s chairman lived in Waco.
One of his programs was Tuesday Rosary at Planned Parenthood. Quickly his prayerful, peaceful protest of abortion became centered on the Rosary. The Baptist pastor, rosary in hand, had a fateful encounter with Fr. Tom Koys in Chicago during Holy Week 1996.
The Catholic convert Daniel Vinzant currently resides in Dallas, Texas, near his two sons. He lives a quiet life, focused on prayer, including attendance at daily Mass. He is on the board of The Lewis Tolkien Society and supports the Thomas More Institute.
Daniel’s wonderful friendship with Norma McCorvey is celebrated in the Josh Prager book on abortion in America, The Family Roe.
